This fabulous kit was developed using research undertaken to recreate the sixteenth-century-style doll on the cover of The Tudor Child. The doll is based on several sources, including: a doll held by Catharina van Warmondt (1596), Isaac Cläsz van Swanenburg, Museum Meermanno-Westreenianum, The Hague, Netherlands, inventory number 16/31; a doll held by Arabella Stuart aged nearly two (1577), artist unknown, Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire; a fashion doll, c1585 to 1590, Livrustkammaren, Stockholm, Sweden, inventory number 77 (56:15) 260; and a doll held by Herzogin Marie von Sachsen als Kind (1564), Lucas Cranach the Younger, private collection. The kit makes one 29cm (111/2 inch) doll - ready to dress. Please note that clothes are not included but appropriate patterns are featured in The Tudor Child.
Further requirements (not included in the kit) are: Paint for the head and hands (water-based or acrylic), Varnish for the head and hands, Glue for the hair (not superglue), Sewing thread, Scissors, needle, pins and a pencil or tailor’s chalk. The variable prices reflect the different postage required for each destination, additional postage will be added at the checkout. |
