The Tudor Tailor is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

The Tudor Tailor may change this policy by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 1 May 2018.

What we collect

The Tudor Tailor sells goods on Etsy, maintains a subscription list on Mailchimp, and carries out research using SurveyMonkey. We collect the following information (but only if you give it to us):

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Full postal adress

Sales records

If you buy from The Tudor Tailor via the webshop at Etsy (etsy.com), your personal details as a customer are stored and made available to us via Etsy. We do not record that information anywhere else. We will only use this information to process your purchase and communicate with you about it. Your details are also handled in accordance to Etsy privacy policy and terms.

Subscription list

If you choose to subscribe to our mailing list by visiting this link and completing the relevant form, you will be added to our email subscription management service at Mailchimp. Your information will be handled in accordance with MailChimp’s privacy policy and terms.

Database registration list and activity

If you choose to register to use one of our databases (for example, Knitting in Early Modern Europe, Costume Research Image Library), we will be able to track when you visit the database. We will hold that information for up to five years after your last log in date.

Survey participation

We use SurveyMonkey to invite your participation in our research projects. We do not use this information for any other purpose and never link your responses to you personally when we publish the results. We keep your participation in the survey confidential unless you give us permission to do otherwise.

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping
  • We send updates on our research findings and like to know what proves most popular
  • We invite participation in experimental archaeology and like to keep track of sign-up rates
  • We may use the information to improve our products, services and/or databases
  • We may periodically send promotional emailsabout new research, products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided.

Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure,we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. We manage our customer records with Etsy’s online sales system. We use an online subscription management service called Mailchimp. This service offers you the opportunity to manage your subsciption to The Tudor Tailor’s mailing list. We use SurveyMonkey to collect and analyse data about our research projects.

How we use cookies

We do not collect personally identifiable information. We retain tracking information for 26 months after your last visit to our website.

Website users who don’t want their data collected with Google Analytics can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We retain your email address in the subscription management service offered by Mailchimp. At present, we record only your first name and surname name with your email address. We retain your customer information in Etsy, including your address. You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998 (UK).
